2 Equivalent to over 471 years of patient wear. In a study designed to observe ''real-life'' contact lens fitting and wearing behaviors, patients prescribed 1-DAY ACUVUE® MOIST were followed as part of a 1-year observational product registry. Patients who were at least 8 years of age, provided consent/assent and who agreed to register for the study completed questionnaires 2 weeks, 4 months, and 12 months after purchasing a lens supply. Adverse events were reported by subjects via the questionnaires if they responded ''yes'' to the question, ''Since we last contacted you, have you experienced a red or painful eye that required a visit to an eye doctor or emergency room?'' All ''yes'' responses were followed and reviewed independently by three expert, masked clinicians. Eighty-one percent (81 o/o) of the subjects prescribed 1-DAY ACUVUE® MOIST completed the 12-month survey. This observational/surveillance registry relied on patient reports of symptomatic adverse events that led them to seek clinical care. These results should be considered in conjunction with other clinical results on the safety and efficacy of daily disposable etafilcon A contact lenses, which also generally show low rates of such events. Although no symptomatic infiltrative events were reported in this study, such events can occur with daily disposable lenses, including 1-DAY ACUVUE® MOIST, as noted in the product labeling.
